Paris Ancaster 2016

This weekend I completed the Paris-Ancaster 70km route. It was one of the toughest rides I've ever done. I came in last in my age/gender group (M30-39) and came in 3rd last overall. My time was 5h 05' 58", with a gap of 3h 03' 43". My average speed turned out to be around 13.4 km/h. My plate number was 1774.

It's been a day since the ride, and every part of my legs ache. The ride was contemplative toward the end and I learned a lot from it, especially the power of my mind and attitude.

In elementary school I was taught a saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." As a grown-up, I know just how fragile our bodies are, but thoughts can and will always endure. This ride was a test of endurance. My body gave out, and my mind nearly did too. I was fortunate that there were a few riders still on the trail with me. I owe them this ride.
