Went to the library today to pick up books for my fall courses. I only found 3 of the books for kid's lit, and only 1 of the Holocaust books. All the other books seem to be either at vpl central branch, or at oakridge. I guess I'll have to find some time to get over there to pick them up.

First impressions of the kid's lit books is the lonely child. All the characters in the books so far (peter pan, anne of green gables, etc) are lonely, marginalised, or just plain bored. Hmm sounds like my childhood.

I'm starting to like the seminar book, imagining the cosmos or something like that. The final chapter talks about godel's theorems. I might do a comparative read along of "godel escher bach" for my big project. I'm on the first section, the greeks and roman's views about the cosmos, and it's really interesting. The book talks about the founding of atomism, and the ideas are just so wacky. Like the world is made of atom swarms, all spinning in place. The outside "shell" of atoms spin so fast, that they are "spun off" the main swarm, and they form the surface of the earth. Kinda like a thin shell ejected from a massive rotating core (doesn't that remind you of modern geophysics?)

The librarians at burnaby were flirting amongst themselves. One girl looks like she was 25, and the guy was 19 or so. The patrons of the library stood patiently in line while the two checkout persons try to fling some heat on each other. I hope they date and go out, or at least do it someplace else.
